English cricket player celebrating with broken stumps and cricket ball nearby

What a week of cricket it has been. The IPL 2026 match results this week delivered drama, breathtaking batting, and a playoff picture that is now razor-sharp. From Finn Allen’s jaw-dropping 93 off 35 balls to Virat Kohli steering Royal Challengers Bengaluru into the knockout rounds, the 11th to 18th of May 2026 gave fans everything they craved — and then some.

Meanwhile, across in England, Arsenal are sitting just one win away from ending their long Premier League title drought. At SportzSage, our mathematical algorithms and expert analysts were busy this week — and, as you will read below, the predictions were right on the money once again.

IPL 2026 Match Results This Week: The Biggest Stories

It was a week that reshuffled the playoff standings dramatically. Several teams pushed hard for crucial points, and the action rarely let up across seven matches spanning from Kolkata to Dharamsala to Delhi.

KKR vs GT, May 16 — Finn Allen Puts on a Show at Eden Gardens

The first standout moment of the week arrived at Eden Gardens on Friday evening. Kolkata Knight Riders hosted Gujarat Titans in a match that turned into one of the most explosive batting displays of the entire IPL 2026 season.

New Zealand’s Finn Allen took centre stage. He plundered 93 runs off just 35 balls in an innings that left the Eden Gardens crowd — and the GT bowlers — absolutely shell-shocked. Allen smashed the ball to every corner of the ground, and KKR finished on a colossal 247 for 2. It was the highest ever match aggregate between these two sides.

Gujarat Titans fought hard in response. Shubman Gill contributed 85 and Jos Buttler added 57, but they could never quite match the required run rate. GT finished on 218 for 4, falling 29 runs short. Sunil Narine, quiet with the bat but deadly with the ball, took 2 for 29 and was named Player of the Match.

The result kept KKR’s slim playoff hopes alive. For GT, it was a painful stumble when they needed a win most.

RCB vs PBKS, May 17 — Kohli and Venkatesh Fire RCB Into the Playoffs

Saturday’s clash at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was the most consequential IPL 2026 match result this week. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the defending champions, needed a win to book their playoff berth — and they delivered in style.

Virat Kohli set the tone at the top of the order with a characteristically composed 58 off 37 balls. However, it was Venkatesh Iyer who delivered the killer blow, finishing unbeaten on a stunning 73 off just 40 balls. Together, they powered RCB to 222 for 4 — a formidable target on any ground.

Punjab Kings started their chase disastrously. They slipped to 19 for 3 inside the first four overs, and despite Shashank Singh’s fighting 56, they could never recover. Rasikh Salam was menacing with the ball, claiming 3 for 36, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar added 2 for 38. PBKS were bowled out for 199, falling 23 runs short.

For PBKS, it was a sixth consecutive defeat — a stunning collapse from a team that started the season so brightly. RCB, meanwhile, became the first side to confirm their place in the IPL 2026 playoffs. They now boast 18 points from 13 matches, with nine wins to their name.

DC vs RR, May 17 — Starc Dismantles Royals as Capitals Keep the Faith

Delhi Capitals produced one of the performances of the week to beat Rajasthan Royals by five wickets and keep their own playoff dreams very much alive. The match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was a thriller from start to finish.

RR batted first and looked well placed at 161 for 2. Then Mitchell Starc arrived. The Australian left-armer tore through the middle and lower order, taking 4 for 40 in one of the best bowling spells of the tournament. Riyan Parag (51 off 26) and Dhruv Jurel (53 off 40) had done their jobs, but Starc’s burst restricted RR to 193 for 8.

DC’s openers Abishek Porel (51) and KL Rahul (56) then put on a magnificent 105-run partnership to lay the platform. Axar Patel finished things off with 34 not out from 18 balls. DC crossed the line in 19.2 overs to win by five wickets.

LSG vs CSK, May 15 — Super Giants Crush Super Kings

Lucknow Super Giants produced a dominant performance to beat Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets on May 15. CSK posted 187 for 5 — a competitive total — but LSG made light work of the chase, reaching 188 for 3 in just 16.4 overs. It was a complete team performance from LSG and a worrying sign for CSK’s form heading into the business end of the tournament.

GT vs SRH, May 12 — Gujarat Flatten Sunrisers

Gujarat Titans opened the week with an emphatic 82-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 12. In what was one of the most one-sided results of the week, GT’s bowling attack overwhelmed a SRH side that has struggled for consistency in the second half of the season. The margin of victory underlined just how dangerous GT remain when they perform at their peak.

IPL 2026 Playoff Picture After This Week’s Match Results

The standings are becoming clearer by the day. RCB are through with 18 points. The race for the remaining three spots is fierce, with DC, PBKS, GT, KKR, LSG, and RR all still in contention. PBKS sit fourth on 13 points — but their six-match losing streak is a serious concern. DC’s win over RR moved them firmly back into the conversation.

The next few matches will be decisive. Every run, every wicket, and every prediction matters more than ever. That is exactly where SportzSage steps in.

Premier League Update: Arsenal on the Verge of History

Across the globe, English football is building to its own dramatic climax. Arsenal hold a two-point lead over Manchester City with just a handful of games remaining. The Gunners host relegated Burnley on May 18 in what could be a title-clinching match. City beat Crystal Palace 3-0 to keep the pressure on, but Arsenal’s resolve has been remarkable.

In addition to the title fight, the bottom of the table remains tense, with Chelsea, Spurs, and Crystal Palace scrapping to avoid the drop. SportzSage’s Premier League predictions have been tracking this season beautifully — if you have been following our tips, you will know we called Arsenal’s late-season surge well in advance.

SportzSage Predictions: Spot On Again

At SportzSage, we do not just watch cricket and football — we analyse every match using our proprietary time-based mathematical algorithm and the expertise of seasoned cricket and football professionals. This week was another strong one for our prediction track record.

Our algorithm identified RCB’s superior batting depth and bowling variety as decisive advantages heading into the PBKS clash. We called them to win, and Kohli and Venkatesh delivered exactly what our model projected. Similarly, ahead of the KKR vs GT match, SportzSage flagged KKR’s explosive top order — including Finn Allen — as the match-defining factor. When Allen smashed 93 off 35 balls, our users who had backed KKR were already smiling.

However, our most impressive call of the week was DC vs RR. SportzSage rated Mitchell Starc’s impact very highly in this fixture, given the conditions and RR’s weakness against left-arm pace in the PowerPlay and death overs. He took four wickets. The SportzSage model keeps delivering — because it is built on decades of data, not guesswork.

With over 80% average prediction accuracy across cricket and football, and users in more than 170 countries already on board, SportzSage is the edge that sports fans around the world are choosing.
